OK, it's time for another one of Emma's cool maths questions;
How many in the class?
Exactly half the class are girls
Exactly one third of the class members wear glasses
One quarter of the class members are not in uniform
Five eighths of the students in this class walk to school.
How many students are in the class?
Oh yeah, something else that's been bugging me latley. Why do you all keep comming here from Google looking for virtual hairdressing games? There are heaps of you every single day. For a start, there are no virtual hairdressing games here, and secondly, what the heck is a virtual hairdressing game anyway?

How cool is this? I was invited to a Sony invite only event last night to showcase the new Playstation 3. There was heaps of free wine, beer and even some of that boring food stuff, but the big star was the new Playstation. Two of them arrived in the state by plane yesterday evening and only made it to the store an hour before the event started. They plugged one into an $8000 Sony plasma and then gave us a demo. It does all sorts of cool stuff with movies, photo's and music. It can browse the Internet. There was something else, but I can't remember what it was.....oh yeah, it plays games as well! I grabbed Brad and raced him up straight after school today (Emma had trumpet practice). As soon as word gets out that there are two PS3's in Sony Central it will be packed with school kids, but since it only arrived last night no one else even knew it was there so the store was completely empty. That means that as far as we know Brad is the first kid in Tasmania to play the new Playstation 3!!!! You have no idea how much pressure I'm under now to pre order one for the March 23rd release, but at $999 it's a very expensive toy. They did give away a PSP, but I didn't win, I did get a free ticket to the new SpiderMan 3 movie due out in a few months though! I took a photo of Brad playing the PS3 with one of the store camera's so I'll have to grab a copy tomorrow and post it here.
[EDIT] Here is the photo. I'm not the worlds best photographer, but this is proof that Brad was the first kid to play the PS3 in Tasmania! He actually sat on the thing for about half an hour before I made him move on!;

Well done Brad. Brad's grade six class held elections a few days ago for two people to represent them on the Blackmans Bay Primary School Parliament. They had to nominate and present a speech outlining why the others should vote for them. There were four nominations and everyone in the class apart from the the other three nominees voted for Brad. That's a pretty comprehensive win. Brad is now following on from Emma who was also on the Blackman's Bay Primary School Parliament. Vote 1 Groom for Franklin!

Emma's High School maths teacher has given her a great set of maths problems to work out. I really loved one of them and thought I should share it.
You have a box of pencils that is half full. You add another four pencils to the box. The box is now two thirds full. How many pencils does the box hold when it's full?
Don't click the "read more" link below until you have had a go at it yourself! I have also updated the answer with an alternative method. Thanks to Max for making me think about a mathematical way of working it out! Given the interest there has been in this one I might add a few more of these cool maths questions soon.

By now you have probably worked out that I like checking out the funnier video's at YouTube. This one is kinda cool because it makes you think and proves the point that you shouldn't believe everything you see on the Internet. If you can't work it out then have a think about that old trick where you count down from 10 on the fingers of one hand and then just add five for the other to prove that you really do have eleven fingers. Just be aware that there is a ad at the end of the video for an American web site and given the story below, we wouldn't want to trust the Amreicans now would we!

The world has gone mad, well at least the American corner of it has. I stumbled upon this crazy story where some poor guy waiting for his girlfriend to buy a coffee was blown up because someone thought he looked a bit dodgy. A police officer involved had this to say ""You can never be too careful, I'd blow up a hundred innocent people if I can prevent another 9/11." Thank goodness we don't have to worry about that happening in Hobart, no one ever buys Starbucks here.
A few other things I forgot to mention earlier. Beefy asked Boonie for a kiss on Valentines day. I bought some wine from the Kingston BWS on Thursday and they are now
selling Beefy and Boonie dolls for $12 and you don't even have to buy
two slabs of VB anymore. I wonder if that means they won't talk anymore? And to recap on my recent bad KFC experience, a lovley KFC lady sent me a "do you want fry's with that" canned letter apologising for the poor service I received. The letter was so bad that some paragraphs repeated previous ones and were obviously out of place.

Wicked, our new helicopter arrived a few days ago. A mate at my work (Jason) had been telling me about these cool little radio control helicopters that he wanted. They had the full range of controls (variable pitch etc) and could do all of the acrobatics (even fly upside down), but they were a bit too expensive for me. I started poking around on the net and found these tiny little versions. They don't have a variable pitch blade so they don't do the cool stuff, but they are sooooo much fun! You can buy the original version from a few Australian websites for about $70 plus postage and I nearly went ahead and bought one, but I thought I'd check out Ebay first. They have cheap copies of the original for about half the price. I missed out on half a dozen before I finally won an auction at a cheap price. I paid only $25.50 including postage! They are the coolest things. It only weighs 10 grams and yet it is radio controlled with a flashing light and two motors etc. I just dunno how they can build them that cheap. Brad and Emma have heaps of fun flying it around the lounge room. At one stage Brad was using my head as a landing strip.

I dunno if I'm breaking copywrite by posting this here, but it's too good not to share. If you want to see more then click on the image below. Click here if you want to know how it's done. Apparantley it's called wiggle stereoscopy. It's done by taking two pictures at the same time from two slightly different angles and then animating them rapidly. You are actually seeing the two pictures one after the other but this fools your brain into thinking there is depth in the one picture.
