A funny thing happened to me the other day. I received an email to my gmail account that had been sent to the wrong person. There is nothing really funny about the email, however it opened up way too many opportunities for me to just leave it, so I sent them a reply. Read the original email below, and then my reply below that. The photo was attached to the orginal email I received. It's a few days on now and I'm still waiting for a reply. I do hope they saw the funny side of my reply!
Hi all
I went out with Dad today to get his new bike - our Father's Day gift -
since the online shop Michael recommended has a physical shopfront at
Stanmore, and we got a terrific blue bike with semi-road-semi-mountain
tyres (so not too easy to puncture but still good to ride on the road),
as well as a puffy seat for his assss and a helmet and lock. He is now
fully kitted out and ready for cycling action.
I've attached a pic of him test-driving up and down the footpath in
Stanmore.
Donations to the cause would be welcome. We got the cheapest one in his
style, $299 plus the additional gear was $80. When he first suggested
it, Dad did offer to go halves, so how does everyone feel about making
a contribution of $40? P are you in a position to make any
contribution?
Hope everyone has had a good day.
N.
Below this is my reply;
Hi Naomi,
Gosh, that's the first time I've ever seen Dad on a bike. I'm so glad
you got him a present as I completely forgot about Fathers day this
year. I'd love to kick in a few bucks, but you know me, always the
tightasssss (it looks as though Dad has enough padding and I probably
need that puffy seat more than him).
The photo is great. You should take up photography. Dad is always
saying you should get a proper job. I have always wondered what
Stanmore looked like, and now I know. I notice there is a pretty girl
strapping a guy into a helmet in the background. Was he worried that
Dad would be a bit wobbly on the bike? Hang on, that's you, but who is
that guy you are with? You really should be a bit more careful, I know
hubbie is a bit of a clutz, but if I noticed then he might as well.
Do you call $299 cheap? BigW have em much cheaper than that. You can
get those funky little two wheeled things that are all the rage with
the school kids for under a hundred (scooters I think they call em). No
wonder you still live in a crappy house, Dad always said you were no
good with money.
Sorry, but no, P isn't in a position to contribute. I just spent my
dole money on a PlayStation3. My counselor said that I should
concentrate on the necessities in life, and I was having trouble coping
without one. I managed to find a perfectly good plasma that some guy
had thrown out (well it was attached to his wall, but he wasn't using
it, so he can't have needed it), but I'm having trouble with the
surround sound, I don't suppose you could help out there could you?
All the best,
P
P.S. Tell Dad to get a haircut will you!
P.P.S. I think you may have sent that to the wrong person! ;-)
