Happy New Year! It's been a fairly crazy week for me. The last work day before Christmas started at 7am with a champagne breakfast at Montgomery's, kicked on with a lunch at work, warmed up with more beers at Monty's after work and then wound down with Linda, Luan, Scott, Tim, and a heap of others I'd never met before at Knopies/Irish/The Quarry on the waterfront. We had the usual "Happy Birthday Emily" BBQ at the Dooles on boxing day and once again I was the last one to leave. I must stop doing that because I always end up helping out with the washing up! Mel and I have slowed our relationship down a bit, but we are still great mates and have spent a fair bit of time together. We were invited to a wedding months ago so we both went to that between Christmas and New Year. I hadn't met the bride or the groom, or anyone else there for that matter, but we had a great time. The bride was an old friend of Mel's. The wedding was at Hobart's Botanical Gardens and the reception was at Mummaluka at Salamanca Place (click their photo to see more pictures). There was way too much red wine on the table so I HAD to drink it all. I met some great people who I hope to see again some time. Best wishes for the future Allison and Scott! Mel was driving, but instead of taking me home she took me to a party somewhere on the Eastern Shore where I didn't know anyone again, but we had the best time. I can't remember a lot of the detail, but if the cute part time ambulance paramedic that I was talking to (until Mel saved her) reads this could she please give me a call! We saw Greg and Noel play in the Blues Brothers Revival Band in an all ages gig at the Queens Head. They are awsome entertainment and much more than "just a band". Greg amazed us with the high notes that he hits on the saxophone and Brad appreciated the private tour of the equipment and stage. Emma, Brad and I along with a heap of others saw in the New Year from the Hobart Cenotaph. Emma and Brad had never met the others (apart from Calypso and Tamsyn) , but it turned out one of the girls used to be in Emma's Guide group and she seemed to know her brother somehow as well so they all got along really well. It was a great place to watch the fireworks, relax, have a few drinks on a rug and watch the kids run around like crazy.
P.S. Who is Aaron Schwes and how on earth did he ever beat Emily's awsome high score on Simon?
