My first pay slip
Thursday, 05 April 2007

I was presented with a certificate and a weird plastic paper weight on a wooden block a few weeks ago by an important person in a suit to commemorate twenty five years of service with my employer. I guess that is quite a long time, especially these days where job security is an old fashioned word (two words?). I remember my dad saying to me when I was first offered this job "As long as you don't hit anyone or steal anything, you have a job for life now son.". I don't suppose anyone else is interested, but I wanted to preserve my first pay slip for posterity, so I've turned it into bits and bytes before time turns it into dust! I don't think I would like to contemplate living on only $5555 a year right now!

I have been asked why my name and the AGS number are fuzzy. It's not because
they have faded, it's just that I would prefer some stuff to remain a little bit
private. I know you probably know my name already, but anyone can copy the
picture of the pay slip and I'd just prefer that my name and AGS wasn't on it.
Whats an AGS? They call it an employee number these days, but it used to be
called an Australian Government Service number in the bad old days when we were
public servants.
