Wow. I was leaving the Aquatic Centre at about 7pm last night when an amazing storm blew in. It was already bucketing down, so I got out my trusty little pop up umbrella and started the walk to the car. All was going well until I had to tilt the umbrella to let another guy pass. That was a mistake. I should have just poked his eye out because when I tilted it the wind got underneath and for a moment I almost did a Mary Poppins impersonation. Luckily for me the handle broke in my hand otherwise I would be in low space orbit by now. The brolley shot up into the air and disappeared never to be seen again. There is a news story about the storm here. The lighning show that night was truley amazing. Whenever we get lightning in Hobart the hill just behind me seems to attract lots of strikes.
There is another amazing story here. Somehow this pretty German paraglider survived being sucked up in another huge storm on the Australian mainland, taken to 30,000 feet and then spat back out again.
