I thought it might be appropriate to post a press release that the KHS Association released Last Friday. The Mercury did pick it up, but the only words they ran were a quote from my part that said I "had some concerns". I guess it must be hard when you have to fit in everyone's bits and pieces and yet stay impartial and balanced. I'll post the actual article once I've had a chance to scan it. MEDIA RELEASE 15th December, 2006 MINISTER GIVES REASSURANCE THAT THE CURRENT PROCESS TO DEVELOP A NEW SCHOOL AT KINGSTON WILL CONTINUE At a meeting today, the Minister for Education, David Bartlett gave representatives of Kingborough Council and the Kingston High School Association an assurance that the process currently underway to develop a new high school at Kingston would continue as planned. Mayor, Dr Graham Bury said, “the Minister made a commitment to work with Council and the school community to ensure the best possible educational outcomes for the young people of Kingborough”. Mayor Bury said that he looked forward to working with the Premier and the Minister to ensure that the Government fulfilled its election promise. Kingston High School Association Treasurer Phillip Groom said “We still have some concerns , however we welcome the Ministers commitment to the current school replacement process and to the educational needs of our youth.
